Headlining the festival is world renowned James Moody, playing the tenor,
alto, soprano sax, and flute with the fluidity, deep resonance and with
that have made him one of the most expressive and enduring figures in modern jazz. Straight from tours of Mexico, Tahiti, Brazil and Bahrain, the team of pianist Billy Mitchell and saxaphonist / flutist John Bolivar ignites with reggae rhythm, blues and handclapping funk. The music continues with Turiya Mareya and her six piece Afro-Cuban Jazz ensemble featuring San Diego's most creative and energizing musicians. Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos and his quintet create an intense and soulful sound with their hard bop and latin rhythms. Grammy winner and founding member of Blood, Sweat & Tears, Richard Halligan plays jazz that is intimate, sophisticated and witty. Join Charles McPherson and Daniel Jackson for a Jam Session/workshop in the Barn. Their breathtaking blues and ballad interpretations are the ultimate in saxaphone improvisation. Also Appearing: Sweetwood & Rockin Mountain Reeds, Gil Quesada, Pat Rizzo, Andy Fraga, Steve Madaio, Seahawk and other guest musicians.
